I know this seems silly, since we've been married going on 3-1/2 years, but we just bought our first new comforter! We have been using Natalie and Dave's barely used beautiful Eddie Bauer down comforter and duvet since we were married. It worked fabulously while we had a queen sized bed. Well, about a year and a half ago we decided to upgrade to a king sized bed...and never got another comforter. So as you can imagine, it was a little chilly around the edges. :)
We have been looking for what seems like forever and finally yesterday, on Rod's day off, we went to Salt Lake and looked through a bunch of stores. We had come all the way home and realized we had never stopped in Sandy where Linens 'N Things is going out of business. They had a lot of really nice comforters for 40-60% off. So we dragged each other back up to Sandy for one last look and found one I loved.
I've always loved Hawaiian-type patterns and when I saw this duvet cover for only $50 I had to get it. The pattern was just so airy and relaxing. I asked Rod about 10 times if he was sure it wasn't too girly for him to sleep in. He said it was totally fine if that's what I wanted. (I love that man)
Next we had to find a filler - so we went to Ross today and found a $47 down alternative comforter to fit inside. I spent like 45 minutes ironing the duvet cover but now it's all ready for the bed. I did find one line on the fabric that seemed a little dingy or discolored (probably only noticeable to me) so that was kind of a bummer, but other than that, it's great. I really love the colors.
We still need to get a white bed skirt, but that will be the last of the accessories. Anyway, I was really excited so I had to share. If we can't go to Hawaii, we'll bring it to Utah. Sweet dreams!
...20 minutes later - Okay, you know what's funny? I thought the duvet cover had flowers on it. I just looked at it again and see that it only has leaves. No flowers. That's funny. When I look at it I still think I see them even though they don't exist. And there you go.

Not silly at all! Small and simple things do wonders...I love the colors...makes the room very warm and inviting!
i love that pattern. it totally reminds me of a pattern they had at crate & barrel a while back when we were doing our registry. they had it for sheets, duvet, bath towels, etc. i really love it. good find!!!
Great find!! I love that thing. Peaceful colors help you sleep better too (at least that's what one of my art history professors told me... but maybe she just made stuff up)
