In the end, sporty flew out the window and economical flew in. It gets amazingly good gas mileage, has just enough guts to get by (maybe it will help me not to speed), and is a smaller size that's just the right for us.
We've been looking like crazy and are so ready to be done with this process. The only catch is, the two cars we're choosing between are out just past Portland, Oregon...a 3-1/2 hour drive away.
Maybe it's karma, but today we were supposed to go see a different Yaris, about an hour away. It didn't have power locks or windows, so we weren't totally sold on it, but it looked like a very good option. However, due to the crazy "Seattle February Snow Storm 2011", we had to cancel. And it was after following up with the Oregon dealership today, that we found their two Yaris' come with a warranty and are a much better buy. Thank you snow storm for the delay.
It looks like the weather may cooperate for us tomorrow (still keeping my fingers crossed), and if it does, we'll hopefully be driving back from Oregon with our new car.
This dealership in Oregon is known for listing their lowest prices and giving fair trades, so they leave the whole haggling nightmare out of the process. We hope it's as good as we've heard it is. I guess we'll soon see!
We've just about finished cleaning out and wiping down the Jetta so it will look even better than it really is. haha hopefully we'll get something for it.
P.S. After having this week off for mid-winter break (ah, the perks of working for a school), I keep forgetting what day it is. I just looked to see what was going to be on t.v. tonight and thought it was very strange that they'd moved Community to Friday nights...duh. I've been doing that all week.
