Battle Creek Falls

I felt so much better Monday morning! No dizziness. Yeah!
The weather was beautiful - sunny but not too hot, bright blue sky and big fluffy clouds. We decided to head out for a little hike in-between Rod studying Cell Biology.

Battle Creek Falls is located on the east mountain in Pleasant Grove. I'm not sure how long the hike is. Maybe a couple miles? Long enough that you feel like you got a good hike in and a favorite because there's a waterfall at the end.

Starting up the trail
Lots of Scrub Oak. I love the shape of the leaves. The intricacies of nature amaze me.
A little friend fluttering along the path
Rod found some catnip. He's adventurous - he even tasted it.
Me in a cave. Well, kind of. I thought I was farther in than I was, so it doesn't look very scary, but it's the thought that counts, right?View from the top - that's Utah Lake out in the distance. There was group rappelling down the rock face. It was fun to watch them rappel down and swing into the waterfall. Rod said he would try it if given the chance. I might if I got enough guts to do it...but don't quote me on that.

The camera guy evidently didn't know that an up the nose, double chin shot isn't the most flattering, but it was nice of him to take a picture of us together.
Here's to a fun Memorial Day!

P.S. - I had a phone interview with a school in Seattle today. I was so excited thinking this could be our way out there. But as I was researching the school before hand, I found that their beliefs and philosophy are VERY different than mine...

The school's approach to everything is based on Anthroposophy (a spiritual philosophy). Every teacher studies and implements this approach. Teacher training includes:
  • Cosmic and human history
  • Evolution of Consciousness
  • Constitution of the human being
  • Cycles of life in biography
  • Karma and reincarnation
  • Esoteric Christology
  • The healing impulse
Hmmmm. While I am accepting of diversity, I can't ethically work at a place where I don't stand behind their beliefs. My stomach felt funny when I tried to tell myself it didn't matter and that I could work there anyway. That's my sign that I can't fake it. It looks like the search continues (I just applied for a really good position and hope I get a call - fingers crossed!).

By the way - I forgot to say that during the phone interview I also found out that the Anthroposophy-based school doesn't use text books (the children make their own from hearing the teacher's lessons), they don't use computers and watching t.v. is discouraged. I guess that counts me out for sure. The Bachelorette just started. And I believe in textbooks and computers.

Wow!!!! I've never heard of a school that does that-sounds like something you would see in NYC or CA, not Seattle. Interesting...private or public?

Battle Creek looks so fun. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better!!!

The photos look great! I'm glad you had a good time and that your dizzy spells have subsided. You SHOULD try rappelling...it does look like fun! That does sound like a strange school...good thing you researched it and listened to your gut!
