Tastes of the holidays

This morning the girls got together for some delicious holiday baking. It was so much fun! Lots of delicious creations and great company.

The crew:

We were so glad Jennifer was able to join us later in the morning
We started off by Natalie helping me make french bread. It was such a treat to have her show me step-by-step and give me hands-on experience. It turned out to be so delicious. Rod has been craving fresh bread for a while so he's in for a real treat.

Next we were on to the sweet treats

Some of our favorites:

Kiss Cookies

Candy Cane Cookies
(before they were frosted - they usually have white frosting with red stripes)

A new recipe for oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies (so good)

Chocolate-pecans (I forgot to take some with me before I left for work, but they have to be delicious, being made with 3 kinds of chocolate)

Fudge (I didn't get to try this either, but it looks amazing)
Are you drooling yet?

Natalie also made a chocolate chex-mix type dessert. It was really tasty as well. [I don't have a picture because it was right when I was leaving for work.]

Natalie was such a great hostess and had prepared delicious potato soup with bacon, cheese and sour cream for us as our lunch. What a great treat!!

It was so much fun. We'll definitely have to make this an annual tradition!

A funny moment with a 1st grader today: As I was sitting with this cute little girl, helping her with her homework, she looked up at me with her big brown eyes and asked, "Miss Shannon, were you ever a kid before?"
So sweet. I love working with these kids.

*drool* so good, wish I was there! What a great group of baking gals ~ the french bread looks fabulous and so do the cookies. I wonder if the chex mix dessert was muddy buddies...choc/peanut butter and shaken in powdered sugar...totally addictive!

and yes, of course, i'm secretly hoping some of these goodies are leftover by Friday night!!! hahaha

what a fun tradition to do together. i remember the last time me and my sisters were all together for thanksgiving a few years ago we stayed up really late making lots of yummy stuff and experimenting with new recipes. one thing i remember particularly was white chocolate peppermint fudge. and it was DEVINE!!!
