A word about the bird

Backtracking momentarily to Thanksgiving...

I loved being able to spend Thanksgiving here with my family! It's been several years since we've been here to do that.

Natalie, our lovely hostess

And of course the pink salad. It just wouldn't be a holiday without the pink salad. And we were happy to hear our niece Chieli was making it for the family back in Utah. Way to keep the tradition alive!

And our annual tradition: watching Christmas Vacation, in anticipation of an "old-fashioned family christmas" of our own. It's safe to say we've memorized the movie and repeat our favorite lines at any given moment throughout the year. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

(*sorry Dave and Philip - we got your feet)

The day after Thanksgiving we headed up to the ranch for the weekend. It was so fun to be up there for a few days. No snow on the ground for Thanksgiving this year.

Since then, we've gotten our new WA license plates and both of us got an enhanced WA driver's license that will allow us to cross the border into Canada without a passport. I foresee a weekend trip to Canada in the future.

Tonight is our ward Christmas party. I volunteered to crockpot a roast, potatoes and carrots for the dinner. It's all cooking as we speak. Hope it's fun. It will give us a chance to get to know some more of the families in our ward.

Other than that, we're preparing for Christmas and so excited for everyone to come!!

As always, love the photos; especially of the ranch. Can't wait to hear about your Xmas ward party...crockpot roast and veggies sound like a wonderful comfort food that I'm sure everyone will enjoy!
