"There are people who put their dreams in a little box and say, "Yes, I've got dreams, of course I've got dreams." Then they put the box away and bring it out once in awhile to look in it, and yep, they're still there. These are great dreams, but they never even get out of the box. It takes an uncommon amount of guts to put your dreams on the line, to hold them up and say, "How good or how bad am I?" That's where courage comes in."
I've decided that in 2010 it's about time to find my "uncommon amount of guts", put myself on the line and start living my life without holding back.
So here goes nothing Erma Bombeck.
Little known fact about me:
Not many know this about me because I keep it to myself.
For reasons of failure? Criticism? Humiliation? Rejection? Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
My sister-in-law Emily's sister Amy had the guts to put herself out there and share her music - which is amazing (listen here and here). It takes courage to put yourself out there. And she did. And she's really good. And she inspired me to take a chance.
So here it goes.
The first is an instrumental I wrote many years ago (sadly, still don't have a name for it).
The next two I wrote last year. They are still considered "drafts" because I had to sing them myself and remember I'm a songwriter, not a singer. So keep that in mind as you listen.
I am, however, happy to say that I've asked Emily's sister Amy to record her vocals with these songs and can't wait to hear how they turn out.

Great songs, Shannon! (Loved how you put the words on the screen) I admire you for putting yourself into your music and putting it out there for others to hear. Too many people have a box of dreams AND regrets ~
So talented!!!! These were beautiful!!!!
you truly have a beautiful talent. i can't wait to hear more. my mom and family have been talking nonstop about amy recording the voice part. they all love your music.
ok, so I had no idea you were a songwriter! I could tell Amy was really excited to work on your songs. When we were in Cincinnati she went out to her "studio" (my moms van, since it was basically the only quiet place). You are so talented and I'm excited for you to put yourself out there!!
your songs are awesome!!! you should totally read "the dream manager" -- it has inspired me to dream more. in fact, this year for christmas i gave all my siblings "dream books" for them to start planning their "dream big in 2010."
way to go for putting yourself out there with your songwriting. i am so impressed!
OMG you are the total BOMB! I am in love with everything I just listened to!!!! I wish it wasn't 11:40pm so I could call and shout all of this out to you over the phone! I am so proud of you, Love, Jenny
