First IVF appointment...and a delivery!

Okay, so there's no way we could have our first invitro appointment and give birth. ha! ...so I'll tell you the latest good news of today. My sis-in-law Emily gave birth to little Pearce, born this evening. She is SO beautiful and precious! I can't wait to see her in person. We've been anxiously awaiting her arrival since last night and are SO happy she's here!

Back to Friday's IVF appointment. It went really well and we feel great about moving forward.

We met with the nurse, physician, financial dept, and embryologist. The clinic (Pacific Northwest Fertility) was very thorough and very personal. They are so streamlined and have everything well organized, which is so reassuring. Rod said he felt like he was surrounded by women...haha - and it was true. I actually don't remember seeing any male staff at all. I kind of love that about it - it feels comforting and I'm looking forward to working with a female physician.

If our tentative schedule moves forward as planned, we'll find out if I'm pregnant by the end of May. There are a few procedures that need to be done before we start meds - blood work and another exam - and that should be within the next week and a half.

Rod and I remain optimistic and feel good about moving forward with this but are also naturally a little guarded. Realistically, we have as good a chance as anyone else in our situation, so we're just focusing on one step at a time and hoping for the best!

After our appointment we decided to take a little "us" time and go exploring. We ended up driving up to Gig Harbor (about 60 miles South of Redmond) and over to Penrose Point (another 45 minutes from Gig Harbor), which ended up being a little more of a drive than we anticipated (kind of an enie-minie-moe pick), but a nice get-away for the afternoon. Here are some picts from our lovely afternoon...

First we got to cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, which I think is a pretty cool bridge...except for the fact that we didn't realize there was a $4.00 toll to get back to the other side after crossing.

(this is the 0nly picture that's not mine)

Okay, on to Penrose State Park, on the ocean...

This is a view from Gig Harbor. Mt. Rainier was so beautiful on Friday. I had to stop and get this shot from the marina.

I thought about you all day Friday. I'm so glad to hear that your appointment went well. I've been on pins and needles waiting to hear. I'm glad you like your clinic. I think that has a lot to do with the comfort levels. Ours is good as well, for the most part, they are a little loopy, but what can you do!
Keep us updated!!! Positive thoughts and vibes are heading your way!!

i definitely feel more comfortable with female physicians. i just think they are more warm and compassionate and i feel more comfortable talking to them. i'm staying very positive about the outcome of this. i know it will be a tough road of shots, drugs and hormones, but you are a tough woman and you have alot of love and prayers behind you. we miss you guys and think of you often. lots of love from socal!
