An hour or so after falling asleep, we heard a loud bang which startled us both awake. And by startling us awake I mean I launched myself onto Rod screaming, "Sweetie!" thinking we were being attacked.
Anywho, Rod was probably more startled by my response than he was being jolted awake from the loud crash, but he got up and looked around the room with a flashlight to see where the bang had come from.
My alarm clock was still in its place.
Nothing had fallen in the bathroom.
Everything was fine in the front room.
Neither of us could figure out what it had been...until Rod came back to bed.
And there, right where our heads had been, was the framed picture that I had hung on the wall above our heads. It had slid down from off the nail and was pinned in between the mattress and the wall. Right. By. Our. Heads. Yikes. That would have reeeeeaaaaalllly hurt.
We counted ourselves very lucky. It's not a light weight frame - it's more of a shadow boxish size. And it is framed with glass.
I know, why did I hang such a deadly weapon above our heads? Because I never thought it would magically fall off the nail and smack us in the head in the middle of the night.
So for now, we're keeping our wall empty.
The end.

e-yikes! You are both so lucky! I hope you didn't step on any broken glass...that's why we have shoes by our bed. Just in case.
