First day

Today was the first day at my new job. It went really well!

The head of the after school program is really organized. You don't even know how happy that makes me. Shocking when I think back to some of the people I've worked for in education who were far from it.

The women I'll be working with are nice too and we seem to mesh well as a group. We met some of the kids who will be attending and they were really cute and sweet. I can tell it's going to be a fun job.

I just need to come up with some great ideas for activities. I'll be in charge of at least 2 a month that can be pretty much whatever I want. And we have a budget that can support most ideas. Very cool!

Tomorrow is the first day of school and the first day with students.
Here's to a great year ahead!

By the way - those little spiders from my previous post? Ha! That's nothing compared to the "friend" I found 2 nights ago downstairs. It's safe to say he's dead. I killed him at least three times with my shoe. :)

This is a Hobo spider. It is what was downstairs with me. I didn't take my own picture, I'm sure you understand. I would have had to get a little too close and heaven forbid I turn my back to get my camera and find that he's crawled a way somewhere. The leg span...somewhere around 3 inches from one tip of the leg to the outer tip of the other. Eeeew! It still creeps me out just thinking about it.

man, we've been having the worst roaches in our bathroom lately. totally grosses me out when i have to go in the middle of the night.

your job sounds really cool. how many kids will be in your group? i'll have to send you a link to a girl in my ward who is a former elementary school teacher and very creative. she has posted her "summer of fun" - everyday for the whole summer. she has tons of good ideas.

I'm so happy for you Shannon! Woo hoo!

Hey, remember that one time when we were in Cedar City in the hotel room? I was sitting at the foot of the bed and we were listening to a scary spider story when you proceeded to crawl up my back with your hand and cause me to go shooting through the ceiling, while having an aneurism and a heart attack at the same time?

I do.

Hi Shannon it is so fun to read your blog. It is almost like still having you here. You are such an adorable person. I miss you!! What a horrible hobo story! It would put me cardiac arrest for sure. So weird you are there are beginning your new job. It sounds wonderful!
