Other than having a fabulous birthday, here's what else I did this week...
1. Got my hair done Tuesday.
Took an early morning drive down from the ranch to get my hair done. We were half way there when we had to turn around and take a different route because a tree had fallen across the road during the major wind storms. Luckily I still made it on time. Crazy weather!
P.S. The colorist gave me 3 major ear lubes while washing my hair. Uhhhhhggg, it makes me grimace just thinking about it...and my hair is just so-so. I don't love the color - it's a little dull. Two 5th graders have since said, "Miss Shannon, you look different." I'm not sure how to take that...I'm getting paranoid. "I just want to be pretty!" (from the Oprah "hair" episode)
2. Attended my new employee benefits meeting Wednesday morning
Another early morning drive down to work from the ranch. Two hours of orientation and benefits info before my work shift. I hope I remember what she said. It was a bit of information overload but I'm happy to be starting my benefits soon.
3. Made it through a VERY COLD night!
Thursday night it was SO COLD in Cle Elum!! Maybe it's because we were re-acclimating from being in Seattle, I don't know, but whatever the reason, I was FREEZING.
I layed in bed for an hour at seriously pre-hypothermia levels...too cold to get up and get a blanket...and too cold to go on laying there. Sweet Rod finally got up and put a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt in the dryer for me, and got me a sweater and an extra blanket.
I bundled up in some serious layers, hooded sweatshirt fresh from the hot dryer up over my head and all. I was in eskimo heaven...until I woke up sweating an hour later. But it was so nice to finally get warm!
4. Had to work Saturday
You take every day of my week and now you want my weekend too?! AAHH! Especially since it meant waking up at 6am to get to an 8:30am workshop from the ranch...on the one day you're not supposed to use an alarm clock.
Our "optional-but-you're-not-a-star-employee-if-you-don't-attend" workshop this morning lasted ALL DAY. It wasn't terribly awful - it was on how to teach children art so we got to do art projects for 7 hours...and I must say a couple of mine turned out okay.
I learned that A) I'm much better at copying someone else's art ideas than thinking up my own and B) that I can successfully complete art projects at the Kindergarten-5th grade level. That's pretty good for me.
We're looking forward to moving into our apartment next week...the day hasn't been confirmed yet but it will be soon!
P.S. I just changed the blog layout...and it makes this post look really long. Sorry french. (it's a line from Grease, for those of you out of my movie quoting bubble)

Happy birthday!! It looks like you had a fun one, well except for the working on saturday thing! I feel like I took a tour of Seattle looking at your pictures :)
Sorry you feel like your hair is so-so i know exactly how that feels!! I'm sure it's not as bad as you think!
love the new wide blog layout.
and whats up with the crazy october weather?? its miserably hot here. like 90s and humid. yuck! i just want some normal crisp cool fall weather - not freezing cold and not stinkin hot either!
Oh, that reminds me of our endless Grease dialogues we would have together between Danny and Sandy..."you're a fake and a phony and I wish I'd never laid eyes on you!"
