Our trip to the Olympic Peninsula in WA for our 5th anniversary (June 25th) was so much fun! I'm really glad we went. We were lucky to have good weather the whole time we were there - it was a little chilly, but it only drizzled once or twice.
We covered a lot of ground in just four days, but we made the most out of every day.

Day 1:
We took the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston
First stop - Point no Point
My family visited this spot when I was a child, so I wanted to go back and see it again.
Next stop Port Townsend - Point Wilson lighthouse
While at Point Wilson, we met a woman who's husband's boat was on its way out to the open ocean, headed to the Bering Sea in Alaska, where he would fish until October. She was taking pictures of his ship as it headed out. I took a snap too (even with my ultra zoom this is as close as I could get him). It would be hard to be a part for that long and in such dangerous fishing conditions.
At this point in the evening it was already nearing 9pm and we still had a 45 minute drive to Sequim (pronounced Squim...like squid) where we were staying, so we only had time to see the lighthouse. The rest of Port Townsend would have to wait until Saturday on our way back.
One thing I loved was how long it stayed light. Although it was already around 9pm it felt like it could have been about 6 or 7pm. It helped us stretch each day out as long as we could!
We arrived in Sequim at the Sundowner Motel after 10pm and had a comfortable sleep (we'd recommend it -cheap prices with basic, comfortable motel 6-ish accommodations) and woke ready to head out for a big day of sight seeing, including:
*Port Angeles
*A hike to a Marymere Falls
*Forks
*Hoh Rain Forest
*Plus a whole lot of vampire sightings...
Stay tuned for Day 2!
