Here are some of the "refashioning" projects I've been working on. One could say I'm obsessed (Rod might say that). Sometimes I can't sleep because I'm thinking of how to turn a shirt into a skirt or a skirt into a shirt...the possibilities are endless!
It's amazing how many great deals there are. The other day Old Navy was having an additional 30% off their clearance racks. I bought a gray tank top (see below) for a total of .33 cents. Shocking. I buy it all with the intention of reinventing it into something else.
I get my inspiration from a bunch of websites. One of my favorites is Made by Lex. There are some very creative people out there.
After looking at a million ideas, I eventually come up with something based on either one idea or a bunch of ideas rolled into one.
See what I've been up to...

Makes a nice outfit, don't you think?
To this ruffled skirt - perfect for wearing to church on the 4th of July...which I did.
Embellished tank top

To this:
(I didn't make the sweater)
I initially intended to put only 3 cloth flowers on but after finishing, realized the sweater would have completely covered them...thus the garden variety tank.
Dresses to skirts
From this old lady bathrobe looking dress:
I used close to 98% of the original. After cutting it up, I used the straps for the flowers and had just a couple small scraps to spare.
Think this is just an ordinary men's button up shirt? Not when I got through with it.
From this:

Pants to skirt
And this is how it ended...

And it matches perfectly with my black ruffled shirt. Imagine that.

To this breezy summer delight:
I'd recently seen several people make skirts with t-shirt waist bands, so I tried it on this and it worked great.
Pants to skirt
And last but not least, this is how it began (the black ones)...
And this is how it ended...
And it matches perfectly with my black ruffled shirt. Imagine that.
