A couple weekends ago my dad stopped by on his way back to Seattle from Moab and had dinner with us. It was SO great to see him and spend some time with him. He's the greatest dad in the whole world, you know.
Anyway, I made flank steak, rice pilaf and baked beets (he loves them and so do I). And I made an angel food cake for a strawberry shortcake dessert.
To preface my proud moment, you should first know that my mom is the best cook in the entire world. Seriously. Amazing.
So I got an email from my dad after he left saying, "Thank you so much for the great dinner. You are catching up with your mother."
Really?? Wow. Now that's a compliment. Is it inappropriate to frame an email and put it up on the wall? :) Thanks Dad.

love it. that is a cute story. i would love some of your baked beets. i never even realized one could make them. i guess i always thought they came from a can!! :)
p.s. your dad was actually talking about those beets last night! you must have really left a great impression!! :)
That IS a great compliment! You should gather your mom's recipes and put them together! That would be a good tribute to your mom's cooking!
awesome! dads are the greatest!!
Wow. That's bigtime. Really. And no, it's not inappropriate to frame and mount an email like that....just as long as you keep it in the kitchen. Well, forget it... put it in every room of your home. It is one of the greatest compliments of all time, after all.
I don't even try to come close to your mom's kitchen skills. Brandon has learned to settle quite well.
Wow! That is so sweet! Lucky Rod to have such a good cook! :)
