At my appointment this morning, my doctor decided that they will do the egg retrieval earlier than expected! I'm the fastest in our group of about 12 or so couples and will be the first. I didn't know there was a race, but evidently I won. :)
My surgery is scheduled for this Tuesday, Dec. 2nd at 11am. I will go under general anesthesia while they retrieve the eggs. The surgery will be done at the clinic in Sandy instead of a hospital, so it should be more comfortable.
In preparation for the surgery, tonight (Sunday) at midnight (yes, it has to be timed exactly) Rod will give me what's called the HCG trigger shot. This high dose hormone will trick my body into thinking that 36 hours later it will be time to ovulate...however, at 35 hours the doctor will sneak in and take all the eggs. How great is that?!
Tomorrow at noon I have to take a pregnancy test that measures the HCG hormone level in my blood. If it is positive, it means the trigger shot did what it was supposed to.

Wow! In this marathon, you are way ahead of the game! Good luck on your midnight rendezvous...that dr. sure is sneaky! Horray for technology and sending good vibes your way for a +++++++ test!
